NAD+ research sits slightly apart from the rest of a peptide catalogue, because NAD+ is not a peptide at all.
NAD+ research concerns nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme present in every living cell. It carries electrons for redox enzymes and also acts as a signalling molecule, which is why it features so widely in studies of cellular energy and ageing biology. SHLabz supplies it strictly as a laboratory material, with a published certificate for its current batch.
This guide, therefore, explains what NAD+ is, what the literature studies, where that evidence stops, and how the certificate reports it.
Regulatory Status
First, the position. SHLabz supplies the compound for laboratory research only. It is not sold as a medicine, and nothing here describes any effect in people.
What NAD+ Is
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a dinucleotide coenzyme rather than a peptide. In its oxidised form, written NAD+, it accepts electrons in redox reactions, and in its reduced form, NADH, it donates them.
Beyond that classic role, NAD+ also serves as a substrate for signalling enzymes, including the sirtuins and PARPs. Consequently, its cellular levels influence processes well beyond energy metabolism.
What NAD+ Research Has Examined
The literature covers several broad areas:
- Redox metabolism. NAD+ is the cell’s hydrogen carrier for redox enzymes, so it sits at the centre of energy-metabolism studies.
- Signalling enzymes. Research examines how NAD+-consuming enzymes such as sirtuins and PARPs depend on its availability.
- Changes with age. Reviews describe NAD+ levels declining with age in animal tissues, and examine the cellular consequences.
- Precursor molecules. Much recent work studies NAD-boosting precursors in animal models, rather than NAD+ itself.
Where the Evidence Stops
That last point deserves emphasis. A large share of the in vivo literature concerns precursors, such as nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide, given to animals. Findings about those precursors do not transfer automatically to NAD+ supplied as a compound.
Moreover, review articles in this area often discuss therapeutic potential in hopeful terms. Such language describes a research direction, not an established result in people.
Similarly, many studies measure the body’s own NAD+ levels in tissue rather than adding the compound from outside. Those studies describe biology, not the effect of a supplied material. For laboratory work, therefore, the useful questions are narrower: which form, what quantity, and what the certificate confirms about the batch in front of you.
Molecular Data and How It Is Tested
Next, identity. PubChem lists NAD+ with the following data.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Class | Dinucleotide coenzyme |
| Molecular formula | C21H27N7O14P2 |
| Molecular weight | 663.4 g/mol |
Because NAD+ is not a peptide, its certificate reports it differently. The current SHLabz certificate, batch NJ500/2025-1010 tested on 3 November 2025, is “tested by content” and reports 603.54 mg measured in the 500 mg vial, rather than a single purity percentage. You can open it on our lab results page and verify it with Janoshik Analytical.
Handling and Storage
Sealed lyophilised NAD+ is stable at room temperature when kept dry and out of direct light. After reconstitution, research convention is to keep the solution at 2–8°C, and moisture is the main thing to avoid before then.
Ordering NAD+ in the UAE
On our 4 October 2026 listing, NAD+ costs AED 299 for 100 mg and AED 449 for 500 mg, so the larger vial costs far less per milligram. UAE delivery costs AED 15, or nothing over AED 350, and orders placed before 12:00 UAE time on a working day reach standard zones the same day. Where a listing shows a struck-through figure, you pay the live price.
The Short Version
In short, NAD+ research studies a coenzyme central to redox metabolism and cell signalling, and much of the in vivo work concerns its precursors rather than NAD+ itself.
So read claims carefully, and check the certificate for your batch, which reports NAD+ by measured content.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is NAD+ a peptide? No. It is a dinucleotide coenzyme, although many peptide suppliers stock it for research.
What does NAD+ research study? Mainly redox metabolism, NAD+-dependent signalling enzymes, changes with age in animal tissues, and precursor molecules.
Why is the certificate “tested by content”? Because NAD+ is reported by the measured amount in the vial rather than as a peptide purity percentage.
What molecular weight should the certificate support? PubChem lists 663.4 g/mol for NAD+.
Which vial size costs less per milligram? The 500 mg vial, at AED 449, costs far less per milligram than the 100 mg vial at AED 299.
